One of my favorite shows in high school was America’s Next top Model and one of the best friends in my life is international supermodel and talk show host, Tyra Banks. At one point in life I wanted everything like Tyra. Of course the looks, wealth and dating options but one of the many life lessons I learned from Tray Banks was to focus on what you like about your physical appearance and don’t hone in on what you don’t appreciate about yourself. This definitely also applies to most life situations, a constant focus and magnification on what is ugly or undesirable about your situation is detrimental to your psyche and growth in life. I am not saying to not acknowledge this an an issue, but pulling your mirror out and looking at this one thing will take away from your time to bask in the beauty that surrounds it. Sometimes this will be a lot more difficult to do than others, especially when life decides to give you one of those god-awful bad days that lead to a bad week. But remember, Tyra banks words of wisdom. No matter how big or small. If your face is not ideal, focus on your eyebrows or complexion. If you dislike your job, focus on how amazing your health insurance is until circumstances change. Having trouble with a subject in college? Don’t focus on your poor performance, focus on how great it will feel to do well or how gorgeous and relaxing it is to study in the campus library. A lot to the time ugly things are hypnotic, magnetic even, but they are exhausting and take the wind out of us. This makes us neglect some amazing things which can make the whole process of overcoming the bad more pleasurable and easier. Yeah you might be ugly, but show them your brows anyway.
